UPDATE: “An alert resident noticed smoke coming from a house on Rayford Rd near Buena Way. She called 911 and then went to knock on the door and received no answer. Within 5 minutes both Station 4 and 6 arrived on scene, reporting heavy smoke from the roof of the 3,800 sq ft home house.

Fortunately a little over a year ago the residents of this neighborhood paid to install fire hydrants so the the crews were immediately able to secure water in order to make entry. Upon entry they verified there were no occupants home and made their way to the attic and located the fire which was quickly extinguished saving the structure and contents.

Due to the quick and decisive actions of the crews, the fire was declared under control within 10 minutes of the fire departments arrival. Station 4 and 6 were assisted by station 3 along with Spring and Porter Fire Departments, MCHD provided EMS units for standby.” – South Montgomery County Fire Department
