Spring, Texas – June 25, 2018 – On Sunday, June 24, The Blue Bow Foundation hosted a benefit at the Bareback Bar & Icehouse to raise money for two local officers in need. The benefit included an auction, a raffle, and a cornhole tournament.

Officer Chayne Brothers & family

Earlier this year, Officer Chayne Brothers of the Houston Police Department was involved in an accident with a drunk driver, breaking both of his wrists and persists to suffer from the injuries. Deputy Brian Eyring of Precinct 5. K9 and family lost their home and belongings in a house fire.

“When I heard about the incidents – which happened a couple days from each other – we knew we could do something together and support law enforcement as a whole while helping blue families,” Executive Director of The Blue Bow Foundation, Kimberly Colley said.

Colley said The Blue Bow Foundation is a proactive organization that strives to prevent mental illnesses in officers and offers continuous support to make sure their minds stay healthy.

Terri Brothers, mother of Officer Brothers, said the event was special to her, and she wants to help any way she can.

Deputy Eying said the support from the community – including friends from high school, work, family, and strangers – is unbelievable.

“I’m very thankful and very fortunate to have all these people in my house one way or another,” Deputy Eyring said.

Executive Director Colley said the community rallies around law enforcement and they love to give back, so the turn out of the event was quite successful.

Colley said 100 percent of the proceeds from the event were split between each of the officers and their families. She said the goal was $5,000 per officer, but she thinks they far exceeded that amount from the thirty-to-forty teams that participated.

“The hardship of not being able to provide for their families is a big worry for them,” Colley said. “It may not be able to satisfy them for a long period of time, but it’s a little something to lessen that worry.”
