Tropical Storm Cindy Nears Texas/Louisiana Border; Threat Decreases For Spring

Spring, Texas – June 21st, 2017 (Harris County Office of Emergency Management): A Tropical Storm Warning is still in effect for Harris County. According to the National Weather Service, Tropical Storm Cindy will make landfall near the Sabine River, along the Texas/Louisiana border, tonight into tomorrow.

Tropical Storm Cindy could bring 1-3 inches of rain to eastern Harris County. Residents living west of I-45 may not see any rain as Tropical Storm Cindy moves through. The current time frame for rain is between 6 p.m. today through noon tomorrow. Areas affected by Tropical Storm Cindy could experience 3-5 inches of rain. Minor flooding is possible.

Residents should continue to monitor local media and the National Weather Service for the latest forecasts.

Remember, street flooding or deep water ponding may occur during this event. Stay out of the water. The vast majority of severe weather deaths are due to flooding. Driving, walking or swimming in flooded streets, bayous, and streams can lead to certain death. Stay aware: Turn Around, Don’t Drown!
