Texas Education Agency Releases 2019 Local School District Report


Spring, Texas – The Texas Education Agency (TEA) recently released the 2019 report that details the school districts’ ratings. The report has information regarding accountability ratings for approximately 1,200 school districts and charter schools.

The districts and charters received A-F ratings on three key areas:

  • Student Achievement: shows how much students know and are able to do at the end of the school year. Student Achievement is calculated by the graduation rate (20%), STAAR performance (40%), and college, career, & military readiness (40%).
  • School Progress: shows how students perform over time and how that growth compares to similar schools. Student progress is measured by academic growth and relative performance. Scores are calculated using the higher of academic growth or relative performance.
  • Closing the Gaps: shows how well different groups of students within a school are performing. The components include grade-level performance (50%), graduation rate (10%), English language proficiency (10%), and college, career, & military readiness (30%).

Klein ISD – Klein ISD has 49 schools within the district and received an overall B rating of 89.

  • Student Achievement: 88
  • School Progress: 89
  • Closing the Gaps: 89

Spring ISD – With 39 schools in its district, Spring ISD received an overall C rating of 78.

  • Student Achievement: 72
  • School Progress: 80
  • Closing the Gaps: 72

Conroe ISD – Conroe ISD has 59 schools within its district and received an overall score of B at 89, with the district’s score improving from last year’s 86.

  • Student Achievement: 89
  • School Progress: 89
  • Closing the Gaps: 88

Tomball ISD – With 20 schools in the district, Tomball received an overall score of A at 90, having gone from a 94 on last year’s report.

  • Student Achievement: 93
  • School Progress: 90
  • Closing the Gaps: 89

Aldine ISD – Aldine ISD received an overall B rating of 83.

  • Student Achievement: 75
  • School Progress: 88
  • Closing the Gaps: 70

Magnolia ISD – Magnolia’s 17 schools received an overall B rating at 87, with their score going up from last year’s 86.

  • Student Achievement: 89
  • School Progress: 89
  • Closing the Gaps: 82
