Montgomery County, Texas – December 23rd, 2015: On Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at approximately 3:35 PM, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division were dispatched to a robbery that had just occurred at the Walmart in the 1025 block of Sawdust Road, in Spring, Texas.
Reportedly an adult female had completed her shopping at the above listed location and was unloading her purchases into her vehicle. The complainant unstrapped her purse from the grocery cart when a male came up from behind her and attempted to grab the purse from her grasp. Reportedly the two tugged back and forth on the purse until the male actor was able to jerk the purse out of the complainant’s grasp. The actor then fled to a waiting car being driven by another male. The vehicle fled from the location. Several individuals witnessed the incident and contacted law enforcement providing descriptions of the suspects and the suspect vehicle. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center was able to air descriptions of the suspects and suspect vehicle. One witness followed the suspect vehicle and was able to provide a description and location of the suspect vehicle until he saw a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office unit get behind it.
A Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Unit converging on the area observed a vehicle fitting the description of the actor vehicle, driving at a high rate of speed, coming from the area of the dispatched location. The patrol unit proceeded behind the vehicle with its emergency equipment activated. The vehicle was witnessed turning east on Pruitt Road, before driving into a ditch and coming to a stop. The two male occupants then exited the vehicle and fled into a wooded area on foot. The pursuing Deputy gave chase and was able to detain one of the fleeing suspects. Multiple units from different agencies converged on the area and set up a perimeter where the second suspect was last seen. A Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Canine Unit and Air Support Unit was summoned to the area. A Department of Public Safety Helicopter and Houston Police Department Helicopter was additionally offering assistance. The second suspect was located a short time later in a nearby apartment complex. Inside the suspect vehicle was the complainant’s purse, as well as other items connecting the suspects to the robbery.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Units responded to the scene. Several witnesses to the robbery were able to identify the suspects as the actors involved in the robbery. The two suspects were placed in custody for robbery and evading. Both suspects were transported to the Montgomery County Jail where they were booked in on the charges, as well as several outstanding warrants both had.
