Spring, Texas – October 31, 2018: A 17-year-old is dead after a pursuit and shootout with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting occurred in 14900 block of Stuebner Airline near Brightwood Drive (just north of FM 1960) around 5:00 PM, Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators tell us that the pursuit began near Spring Cypress and Stuebner Airline after the driver passed a school bus that was stopped letting out children.

Officers pursued the vehicle in a low speed chase for approximately 10 minutes before the driver crashed out in the ditch along Stuebner Airline. Officers gave commands to the driver to show his hands, however, the driver pulled out a pistol and fired approximately 4-6 rounds at police. Deputies returned fire, striking the driver multiple times.

Cypress Creek EMS responded to the scene where they pronounced the 17-year-old dead.

Investigators tell us that the male had no criminal record.
