Spring, Texas – September 6th, 2015: A Harris County Precinct 4 Constable deputy was taken to the hospital after he sustained injuries from a foot chase.
This all started when suspect Joey Jackson (31) was accused of beating his 4 year-old son then stealing his wife’s car near FM 2920. Police spotted Jackson traveling on Kuykendahl when the pursuit was initiated.
Jackson crashed into another vehicle near the intersection of Louetta and Kuykendahl and fled on foot through the Kroger parking lot. Jackson jumped the fence behind Kroger where he continued running on foot in the Cypressdale Subdivision.
“Once we got onto Kuykendahl and Louetta, he ends up getting into a car accident and gets involved in a foot chase,” said Lt. Oscar Muniz with the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.
The car that Jackson hit was occupied by Vernet Featherson and two children. No one in her vehicle was injured.
“This car just came out of nowhere and hit the car twice and just kind of ran up on the curb,” Featherson said. “Then he ducked and ran through the parking lot. It was very scary.”
Deputies quickly established a perimeter around the neighborhood and took Jackson into custody.
The DA’s office has accepted two charges on Jackson; evading arrest and felony injury to a child.
The deputy constable that was hurt was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries to his knee.
