Spring, Texas – On March 29, 2015, I stood on the corner of Midway and W Hardy as I watched firefighters battle the raging flames that engulfed the historic Wunsche Bros Cafe in Old Town Spring. The century-old Wunsche Bros. Café and Saloon was a historical icon in Old Town Spring before it went up in flames. The building has sat empty for over a year with a for sale sign and metal fencing around the property. Old Town Spring business owners have struggled greatly after the fire, noting that food traffic and visitors have decreased.
Today, according to officials with the town, Wunsche Bros Cafe has been purchased by the Kosh Family! The Kosh Family owns the upscale fine dining restaurant, Amerigo’s Grille, in The Woodlands. We have reached out to the Kosh Family for comment but have not yet heard their plans for the building.
“The Spring, Texas community is pleased to hear this positive news! The sale of Wunsche Bros Cafe is the start of new economic development in Old Town Spring. We will greatly miss the Wunsche Bros family, however, we are excited to hear about the Kosh’s plans for this historic building. The Spring-Klein Chamber of Commerce welcomes the Kosh Family to our community!” – Myeshi Briley, MS, HS-BCP / President, Spring-Klein Chamber of Commerce.
