Spring, Texas – July 8th, 2015: Just days ago Jacob Munoz was welcomed home to his house in Spring after a 90 day stay at Texas Children’s Hospital. Back in January Munoz was diagnosed with Philadelphia Chromosome Positive – Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a very rare and aggressive form of cancer.
Last week doctors performed a biopsy to determine if a bone marrow transplant would be needed. Today Munoz received those results, family members posted an update to his Facebook page.
“It is with a very very heavy heart that I inform you all that we did not get the results we hoped for. Jacob is not in remission. It is the recommendation of his main oncologist to go against protocol and give him an additional two months instead of immediately going to transplant. Tomorrow Jacob’s case will be presented to the Leukemia Board for approval. If all are in agreement he will get another biopsy after two months. If he is not in remission at that time he will receive the transplant from my other son who is Jacob’s perfect match. Losing is not an option! Cancer you didn’t win! This just means we fight harder! Cancer messed with the wrong kid because he is the son of the King of Kings! We stand firmly on God’s promises of healing! We will win!” via Facebook
“This is the time when the Spring/Klein community comes together to show how strong we are” said Zach Karrenbrock, Founder of Spring Happenings. “There was overwhelming support at his homecoming but it can’t stop there. As Munoz continues to fight we need to be right there by his side fighting even harder.”
Spring Happenings will continue to monitor his progress.
