Investigators Arrest 20 Suspects in Prostitution Operation

Harris County, Texas – May 9th, 2016: On May 4th and 5th, 2016 Investigators with the Harris County Constable Mark Herman’s Office, with assistance from the Houston Police Department VICE Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, and Cypress Creek EMS CCATT conducted an undercover operation that spanned across Precinct 4 in response to continued outcries from the community regarding a high level of prostitution in close proximity to schools, day care centers, businesses, and residential areas.  The purpose of this operation was to curtail prostitution by targeting the “johns” who solicit sex for money; focusing efforts on the demand for sex workers.

During the course of the investigation, female undercover investigators posing as street prostitutes were able to make criminal cases on several males “johns” trying to purchase sex or sex related acts.  Focusing law enforcement resources on sex buyers reduces demand for prostitution, which strangles the sex industry and more importantly curbs human trafficking. The male sex buyers are all different ages, races and come from all walks of life.

As a result of the investigation, twenty (20 males) individuals were arrested and charged with Prostitution. Additional drug / narcotic charges also were filed as well as multiple Harris County Class C Warrants executed.

“These types of illegal activities will not be overlooked, tolerated or condoned in our communities where we live and raise our children.  Instead all law enforcement resources will be utilized to keep these illicit activities from occurring.”  Constable Mark Herman
