Spring, Texas – July 23rd, 2015 (Chron.com): The main lanes of Interstate 45 north in Spring between Rayford Road and FM 2920 will be closed this weekend for construction on the Grand Parkway.
Drivers will be detoured to the frontage roads going southbound from Rayford Road to FM 2920 and going northbound from FM 2920 to Texas 99, known as the Grand Parkway, while crews work on pavement expansion and drainage work along Interstate 45 north. The closures will be in effect from 8 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday. Law enforcement will be on site to direct traffic.
The construction is the latest work on a $1.1 billion, 38-mile segment of the Grand Parkway, stretching from U.S. 290 in northwest Harris County to U.S. 59 in south Montgomery County. This segment will provide an alternative to Interstate 45 for those traveling to the new Exxon Mobil campus and the Springwoods Village development just south of The Woodlands. The contractor, Zachry-Odebrecht Parkway Builders, opened the frontage roads along the Grand Parkway between Interstate 45 and Holzwarth Road in the spring, and expects to complete the segment by the end of the year.
