Firefighter/Paramedic Aboard Southwest Flight 1380 to Speak At 7th Annual Hope for Heroes Gala

Spring, Texas – October 22, 2018: We are just a few days away from the 7th annual Hope for Heroes Gala hosted by Emergency Chaplain Group.

The event is the organization’s annual fundraising event where funds raised go towards helping firefighters, police officers, EMT’s, paramedics and dispatchers cope with Critical Incident Stress. The 7th Annual Hope for Heroes Gala will be held on Saturday, October 27 from 6-11 PM at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott.

Andrew Needum will serve as the event’s keynote speaker. Needum is a firefighter/paramedic that was aboard Southwest Airlines Flight 1380, the jet that suffered catastrophic damage to one of it’s engines sending shrapnels into a window of the aircraft and pulling a female passenger partially out of the window.

Needum along with another passenger sprang into action, pulling the woman back into the cabin. It was at that moment he and and off-duty nurse, began resuscitation efforts in an attempt to save her life. He is known to many as a Hero for his actions that day; but if you were to ask him, he would tell you that God placed him on that plan for a reason and he was just doing what he has always been called to do…serve others.
