March 4, 2019 – 2:20 AM UPDATE: Harris County Sheriff, Ed Gonzales tells us that preliminary information leads investigators to believe that the female committed suicide by jumping into moving traffic. Her vehicle was parked on the shoulder with the hazard lights on. The scene has been cleared and all lanes have reopened.
Houston, Texas – March 3, 2019: A female has been pronounced dead after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 45.
The scene is unfolding in the 17800 block of I-45, just north of FM 1960, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzales.
All northbound traffic is being diverted onto the feeder road. Officials say that the mainlanes will be closed for several hours as deputies conduct their investigation.
The name of the deceased has not yet been released.
