Spring, Texas – February 15th, 2018: In December of 2016, the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office responded to an in-progress tire and wheel theft. Responding patrol deputies spotted the suspect vehicle and there was a brief police pursuit that ended when the suspect bailed out of the vehicle and fled. Both suspects evaded capture, however, Precinct 4 investigators were able to collect DNA evidence from inside of the vehicle. In 2017, Constable Investigators received DNA results confirming the identity of 2 suspects who were found to reside in Washington County. Precinct 4 investigators began to collaborate with law enforcement in Washington County and were able to identify other suspects involved in the crime ring.
Precinct 4 investigators were then able to research many cases within Harris County and discovered video surveillance and other evidence which enabled them to positively identify members of the crime ring in the commission of these thefts. Constable Investigators also received telephone recordings of suspects collaborating on the criminal activity.
After a 14 month criminal investigation, the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office has filed Felony charges on (11) suspects for “Felony Theft – Engaging in Organized Crime”. These criminal episodes involved hundreds of thefts throughout the following counties in which tires and wheels were stolen off of the victim’s vehicles while parked in their driveways: Harris, Grimes, Waller, Washington, Fort Bend, Montgomery, and Brazos.
Early this morning, the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office executed multiple search warrants and are in the process of recovering stolen property and critical evidence related to the organized criminal activity.
The Constable’s Office partnered with the (11) different law enforcement agencies across the State to bring this criminal activity to an end and those responsible into our court system here in Harris County for prosecution. Felony arrest warrants were obtained and executed on the following suspects:
