June 3rd, 2018 UPDATE: Harris County Fire Marshal says that a cigarette butt caused yesterday’s house fire in the Postwood Subdivision. The male that was rescued from the home by firefighters has been transported to the UTMB Burn Unit in Galveston and is listed in critical condition.
Spring, Texas – June 2nd, 2018: Two residents were taken to the hospital after their home caught fire in Spring.
At approximately 5:30 PM, the Spring Fire Department was dispatched to the 22000 block of Millgate Drive in the Postwood subdivision in reference to a house on fire with victims trapped. Before fire crews arrived, a neighbor pulled a female resident from the home but was unable to reach the male resident. Firefighters arrived on the scene within 5 minutes of the call to 9-1-1 and were able to quickly locate the male and pull him out of the burning home.
“A heroic neighbor pulled one of the fire victims out and told Spring Firefighters where to find the other” said Robert Logan, Assistant Chief.
The female was transported to the Texas Medical Center by lifelight. The male was transported by ground ambulance to an area hospital.
The cause of the fire remains unknown; the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
