TWO CONFIRMED DEAD IN HOOKS AIRPORT PLANE CRASH

HARRIS COUNTY, TX –  Officials tell us that 1 person is confirmed dead, and one transported to Hermann Hospital after a small Cessna aircraft crashed into a hanger at David Wayne Hooks Airport in Spring.  The distress call came in at approximately 7:15pm, moments later the aircraft crashed into a nearby hanger.  The Klein Fire Department along with Cypress Creek EMS responded to the scene and is being assisted by the Harris County Hazardous Materials Team and the Fire Marshalls office.  We have been told that this scene is now in the hands of the FAA.  We have been told that the fire departments extrication team used the jaws of life to cut one passenger out of the plane.

This is still a very active scene, more details will be posted as they become available.

UPDATE:  The second patient has been pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital.  We are told that the victim that died at the scene was the student and the victim that died at the hospital was the instructor.  We are told, the individuals were practicing “touch-and-go’s” on the runway before the aircraft experienced complete engine failure.
